Race Overview

Welcome to THE McKINNEY 24 – a 24-hour, 6-hour, and Short-distance trail race challenge opportunity at Erwin Park, McKinney, TX. This isn’t just a run; it’s a chance to test endurance, discipline, and trail spirit while being a part of making history. Top 5 finishers will set the standard at this inaugural race and be a part of a much awaited Ultra in the area.

Schedule

Friday – October 31, 2025

  • Camping opens: 1:00 pm
  • Packet pickup: 1:00–3:00 pm
  • Late arrival instructions: 3:00–5:00 pm

Saturday – November 1, 2025

  • Packet pickup: 6:00–6:50 am
  • Race brief: 6:30 am
  • 24-hour & 6-hour start: 7:00 am
  • Short Run: 10:00 am
  • 6-hour cutoff: 11:00 am (no new loops)
  • 6-hour ends: 12:00 pm (loops must finish by 1:30 pm)
  • 6-hour awards: 1:30–2:00 pm
  • Spooky Night Hike: 7:00 pm

Sunday – November 2, 2025 (*time change at 2 AM CT)

  • 24-hour cutoff: 5:00 am (no new loops)
  • 24-hour ends: 6:00 am (loops must finish by 7:30 am)
  • Awards: 7:30–8:00 am

Course

Each loop = 11 miles of public, shared trail (runners, hikers, mountain bikers). Expect roots, several trees, sharp turns, snakes, spiders, mosquitoes, bunnies, and man-made obstacles.

• Always yield to others unless they yield first.
• Run counter-clockwise of bikers.
• Stay on the right side when possible.
• Use open-ear headphones only.
• Course markings: directional signs, reflectors, and tape.

⚠️ Safety Reminder: This is technical trail — roots, low light, and bikers mean you must stay alert.

Penalty Loop Rule: If mileage is short by 2+ miles on a loop (e.g., GPS failure, missed turn, “un-paused” watch, etc.), you must run a 2-mile penalty loop before advancing.

Parking

  • No parking on grass — strictly enforced.
  • Park only in designated areas.
  • Do not block roads, campsites, or other vehicles.
  • The park is public — lock your car and leave nothing valuable.(we are not responsible for personal property)

Camping

  • Overnight camping available in designated grassy areas
  • Pavilion reserved for staff & sponsors.
  • Quiet hours: 10 pm – 7 am.
  • Open areas near Start/Finish are for canopies and day tents.

Aid Stations

Expect water, HYPERLYTE, soda, fruit, snacks, broth, bacon/sausage. Bring your own fuel/hydration but we will have HYPERLYTE available for purchase (we don’t promote ANYTHING we don’t use or believe in). This is a cupless, Leave No Trace event.

Rules

  • GPS watch/phone must be on & recording.
  • Complete full loop before starting another.
  • Check in at Start/Finish each loop.
  • Follow trail etiquette & Leave No Trace.
  • Pacers allowed after 2 loops (must check in).
  • Dogs allowed on leashes.
  • Quiet hours enforced.
  • Must camp in designated areas with pass.
  • Signed Waiver(at registration or download here – adult , minor)

Awards

  • Top 3 overall (loops/miles completed, 24 hour only) – Custom mugs (32oz, 25oz, 18oz).
  • Top 5 automatically set course records (all races).
  • 100-Mile Belt Buckle (sub-24 if completed prior to end).
  • Top Age Group (U18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+) – $50 future race credit.
  • 24 hour get a free shirt. All others are available for purchase.

Volunteering

  • • 4 hour shift
  • Available shifts
  • • $50 race credit (can be donated to a runner, per shift).

Registration & Fees

  • • 24-Hour: $167 (shirt included)
    • 6-Hour: $75 (medal)
    • Short Run: $15 (medal)
    • Spooky Night Hike: $5 (register at start/finish prior to 6:30 pm on 11/01/25, Goody bag and mask included)
